Special Needs

I am considering homeschooling my special needs son. He has always been in special ed class up through 5th grade. Then in 6th grade he was dropped, like an egg into general ed! Ever since, school has literally been a living nightmare for both of us. I have had so many meetings with school staff to help him but, he is now in 8th grade and has expressed to me how much he hates school and told me he's very depressed. He is in 8th grade and has ADHD, ODD. Medicine has never agreed with his body, even though he needs it to concentrate. I just want to know if homeschooling a child with special needs is recommended?

Thank you,
Lisa Martin

Lisa,

Great question! I personally do not have any experience in that area, but I can certainly point you in the right direction. Homeschooling a special needs child is covered on our ADHD page. Kristina so graciously shares her first hand knowledge with us. You will find her suggestions there.

May it be a blessing to you also.
