free kindergarten worksheets,
you will have to keep looking!

Not that I don’t want to give you something for free!

I do.

But not here…you see, I don’t believe in bogging curious five year old kindergarten children down with homeschool worksheets!

Your little one will learn so much just by imitating you. If you are fortunate enough to be home with your children, all the better!

Together you could make potato boats for supper,
like I did with Emily and Laura.

I have read a number of books by Dr. Raymond Moore and Dr. Ruth Beechick.

You should, too.

They will put you on track to advance from homeschooling toddlers to kindergarten. Enjoy your little ones and forget about finding the perfect free kindergarten worksheets.

Replacing Free Kindergarten Worksheets

Here are a few suggestions to help you get started home schooling kindergarten. These are all very simple ideas that will get you wondering, “Why didn’t I think of that!?”

  • Read To Your Children - Don’t worry about whether or not they can read at this point. When you read to them, they will naturally read along and eventually pick it up. Take your time. Just Read! It is the single most important and natural thing you can do for them right now. My children read all the time now, and I believe it’s because they were always read to. Because of their love for reading, they have learned far more than I could have taught them with a purchased curriculum.

    with their cousins
    and Grandma.

  • Play Games - We have a closet full of games, and we made it a point to play them often. You can, too. They will learn how to count, make change, read simple instructions, etc. Be patient. Don’t go too fast, they will be happy learning at their pace. So will you!
  • Trips To The Store - Take them with you wherever you go. As you are comparing prices or getting change back, think out loud, in their language. Explain to them what you’re doing. It does not take any extra time to do. And they learn a lot.
  • Household Duties - Include them in whatever you do at home. Let them put the soap in the dishwasher or washing machine. Let them push the buttons to start them. They love doing this with you. And they are learning how to do it in the process. I am amazed at how many young people get married but have no idea how to do their own laundry!
  • Just Playing - As they play together, your children will mimic what they learn. What a great way to practice! And it’s all in fun.

  • Bottom line is, just let them be a kid. After all, you don't need a whole kindergarten curriculum. There will be enough of that when you start first grade home school. They are only five years old for Pete's Sake! Don’t worry about what free kindergarten worksheets you downloaded last week and which ones you have to download today. It’s not important. Just enjoy each other, naturally!
