1) Book Nook

Okay, I promised to include one of Laura's favorite Usborne books this month. It was a toss up between their World Geography book and World History book. Both of them are loaded with pages and pages of colored pictures to keep your reader occupied for hours! As I page through them again, I'm reminded of how much information is in each one! You'll find two pages of Time Charts in the History books giving you a glimpse of the different time periods at a glance. The World Geography book not only gives you maps near the back, but includes detailed descriptions of people and houses around the world. If you're not sure about which one to get...get them both! Now, I wonder which one Garrett will want me to include next month?

Do you have a favorite home school book? If you do, let us all know!

2) Brain Teaser

Leather shoes are worn in bowling and rubber soled sneakers in tennis. In what sport are all metal shoes worn?

(Answer at bottom.)

3) Helpful Homeschool Hints

Is meal planning and preparation getting you down, Mom? Have the children make it! Give them the opportunity to make something they like (as long as it's somewhat nutritional!) and they'll be sure to eat it! Our children have been preparing meals for some time now. It's an excellent way for them to use their math skills (changing serving sizes), not to mention learning how to cook and bake! One can always learn something new in the kitchen, no matter how old they are...right Mom?! Hand over the apron and enjoy a meal served up by one of your children. You can even go so far as to assign a meal a week per child. Imagine the spare time you'll have...it's a Win-Win!

4) New Pages Added
Our latest addition you'll find near the middle of our Homeschool Rewards Home Page. If you have Facebook, and enjoy the website, I would love to keep in touch with you through Facebook, too! Just click the "Like" button to keep in touch on Facebook.

Wassup? - Don't forget to drop by to see what's new in our family! Let me give you a hint...one of the children graduated from college.

5) Terrific Contributions From Visitors Like You!

Every month we will share the best visitors' pages submitted the month before. We appreciate everyone's input, but there are some that really shine. My family votes on the best of the best. Here are this month's top picks (in no particular order):

Homeschool Q & A
Homeschool Outside the Country? - What happens if you have to move to another country...can you continue to homeschool? Sara from California wondered...Do you have any tips for her?

Math Reviews
Singapore Math - Joy shares why she finds this program extremely worthwhile.

Book Reviews
Favorites for Little Ones - If you have children in the 4-6 age range like Amy, you'll want to check these out the next time you're at the library.

Digital Books - Ebooks have come a long way, and MobiMom shares her favorite, The Marvelous Toy. Just touch the screen and lots of things happen while reading this book. It truly is amazing what technology can do to a book!

6) # Visitors in May

We thought it would be kinda fun to let you know just how many of you are visiting the site each month. Last month finished out with 4465 new visitors! Welcome!

7)Upcoming Events!

4th Annual Home Ed. Conference in Disneyland -

Plan a vacation to California Sept. 8-11 and attend the conference, too! Here are the details: http://www.notbacktoschooldays.com/

8)We Made the Top 100!

Our website was added to the list of Top 100 Twitter Feeds for Homeschoolers. I'm #17 in the "Moms Supporting Moms" section as @Homeschool_Mom.

Until next month, may you experience many homeschool rewards,
