Sharing Life's Simple Rewards of Homeschooling

Homeschool Rewards Zone brings you the latest additions to one family's rewarding experiences of homeschooling simply.

Issue #006 ~ January 2010

Happy New Year!
What's new with your family? We have tried a new sport...Kite Boarding! It has been quite a challenge just staying on your feet, much less moving on a board. But, it's been fun! I hope to get pictures up soon for you to see how we're doing. (Well, everyone but Mom!)

1) Brain Teaser

Mr. Evans took a group to dinner. Seated at the table were one grandfather, two fathers, one grandmother, two mothers, four children, three grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, three sons, one daughter, two married men, two married women, one father-in-law, one mother-in-law, and one daughter-in-law. But it was a small enough group that paying for the dinners didn't bankrupt Mr. Evans. How many were in the party?

(Answer at bottom.)

2) Helpful Homeschool Hints

*Use your crock pot! Your afternoon will be more relaxed and peaceful knowing that supper is already done!

*Have your little ones march around the house just before supper, preferably outside. You'll be surprised how much calmer supper will be!

3) New Pages Added

Q & A A dear homeschool mother suggested we add a Question and Answer Section to our newsletter. She must have ESP (don't all mothers!) as we just added a new Q & A page to the site! Check it out! This month's questions: (Answers at the bottom of the web page.) How do you teach Art and Music? How do you teach different ages? Is it difficult to homeschool with a new baby? Do homeschoolers qualify for college scholarships? What's required in the college application process?

Abeka Forum - Jamie answered a couple of great questions this month: How many hours do you spend on Abeka's DVD program including seat work? What's the difference between accredited and non-accredited Abeka programs?

Sitemap - To help you easily find what you're looking for on the site, we've put together a sitemap for you. Now you'll be able to find just what you're looking for by topic at a glance.

4) Terrific Contributions From Visitors Like You!

Every month we will share the best visitors' pages submitted the month before. We appreciate everyone's input, but there are some that really shine. My family votes on the best of the best. Here are this month's top picks (in no particular order):

Abeka
Homeschooled - Heaven Dimock from Michigan is a happy high school sophomore. Could it be because she gets to sleep 'til noon?!

5) # Visitors in December

We thought it would be kinda fun to let you know just how many of you are visiting the site each month. Last month finished out with 2,801 new visitors! Welcome!

Until next month, may you experience many homeschool rewards,
Diane
