Will couldn't do a single multiplication problem when I picked him up from school on the last day of Fifth Grade last year. Will began using Math U See just this school year (2008-09) when we began our homeschooling journey. I had no idea what I was going to do as far as his math went but I knew I had to have the right program.

Please understand that Will is a special needs child. He had been in public school for five years and basically had been put at a desk and forgotten. All my frustrating "conferences" had done no good. The "No Child Left Behind" law is taken to mean, just pass 'em along, they aren't our problem any longer (in my opinion).

So, we found Math U See, purchased it and when we received it, Will's eyes lit up. He saw all those little blocks. He is on the autism spectrum and loves to "collect things". He saw collections of blocks! He instantly LOVED it. So, together we tackled homeschooling and with our CD, our blocks and our workbook we began our journey to see if Will could learn multiplication.

That was almost ten months ago. Today, 23 lessons later, Will has mastered multiplication. He still has his moments and will always have his challenges. Some he will not be able to overcome, some he will. We are going to continue with the Math U See program as far as Will can go. I feel confident that he has the best program he could possibly have.

This child couldn't talk until he was five, the doctors told us he would never read or write and he has continued to exceed all those under-expectations! With tools like Math U See, Will has a chance to make his life better. We thank God for the chance to help Will and for every day we have him with us.

Loved it!

I started using Math U See a few years ago and have enjoyed it immensely! Everyone in my family learns at their own pace and difficult concepts seem to be easier to understand. Anyone struggling with their math should give it a try.

I happened to stumble on this page looking for help with my autisic child. I know exactly what you mean...No Child Left Behind...yah, right! How encouraging it was for me to read your story and know that there is hope for my child yet. I think we'll have to give homeschooling a try!

Thank you for sharing.
