Kumon Math and Reading

Kumon Math and Reading is a great supplement to the home school curriculum. Children visit the Kumon Center twice a week and complete the work at home the other 5 days. The assignments take around 15 to 20 minutes.

The great thing with Kumon is the daily practice and locking in the concepts through mastery. Children will not move forward unless they master a concept, then they use the concept throughout the program.

Children may advance well ahead of their classmates since they are in control of their progression through the curriculum. I started both of my children in Kumon when they turned 3 and they are well ahead of their classmates today.

Kumon was designed by a High School Math teacher to help his young son who was falling behind in math. You can visit the web page to learn more about Kumon Math and Reading. www.kumon.com

Lots of Repetition and Mastery
by: Nita

My older kids went to the Kumon center on a weekly basis. I loved the fact that after some time they could sprout out math facts off the top of their head. However, my kids complained a lot about the daily math worksheets of about 15 to 20 math problems. I took them out of the weekly program and used the workbooks at home. After awhile the kids got bored with those so I started to mix it up by doing Kumon sheets every other day, a game in between and flashcards.
