Alligator Farm

by Amanda

In elementary school, recently after moving to south Florida, my class went to an alligator farm. This was a very interesting class trip.

We went to the Everglades, which was an educational experience in and of itself. Living in this area, you hear a lot about the Everglades and being able to visit was really cool!

We watched a trained professional work with the alligators, tell us all about their eating habits, lifestyles, and history. We then took an airboat ride through the Everglades. Airboats, at least the ones we went on, have huge propeller fans on the back, with a few rows of seats throughout the front. They are very low to the water.

It was quite an experience traveling through the Everglades, learning about this landscape and about the alligators that inhabit it.

Too Close For Me!
by: Gretchen L.

The only place I've seen alligators, was at the zoo...with a fence in between me and them. Don't know that I'd like getting that close to one!
