North Padre Island National Seashore

by Diane Nick
(Fond du Lac, WI)

We camped by the ocean in North Padre Island National Seashore, Texas. We enjoyed playing in the sand, cooking shrimp over a campfire and taking moonlight walks along the shore. As we walked along the shore in the darkness, we would walk through the drifted kelp and see the fluorescent chemicals shine under the pressure from our feet. By daylight SOME of us even enjoyed tossing food to the seagulls.

Gee, I wonder how that glowing happens? I was in Texas but have never been here. Now I'm curious and will have to make the trip!
